Lan Deng, an associate professor of urban and regional planning, and doctoral student Xiang Yan have published an article in Housing Studies about China’s Housing Provident Fund program, the largest social housing finance program in the world. Jie Chen, a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s School of International and Public Affairs China Institute for Urban Governance, also is an author on the article.
The researchers examined the variation in the Housing Provident Fund in different Chinese cities, focusing on the factors that impact how many people use the loans provided by the fund.
