This project is a collaboration between researchers at the University of Michigan, Georgia Tech, and Arizona State University and involves research in Detroit, Atlanta, and Phoenix. As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of extreme heat, this study investigates how residents experience extreme heat in their homes, how neighborhood and housing characteristics mediate outdoor temperature, the impacts of a simultaneous power outage/heat extreme, and how these conditions are projected to change by 2050.
