Why did you choose Taubman College as the right program for you?
Taubman College not only promotes DEI on its website, but you can really see the values within the community of people that make up the college. I chose this program because it valued diversity, equity, and inclusion, the wide range of skills and expertise the faculty and staff can provide, and because of the program’s focus on justice within the Master of Urban Design degree.

What is special or excites you about the Taubman community?
The accepting community that celebrates each identity and culture is very special. The community-building events and academic workshops excite me the most as we are constantly able to meet new people and learn new things!

If applicable, tell us about studio culture – what is inspiring or innovative or unique?
Studio culture at Taubman College is very positive! Students create a community within their studios and are always willing to help each other in positive and empowering ways. The professors help make the culture a safe, accepting, compassionate environment.

Describe your experience with faculty and professional staff during your time at Taubman?
The relationships between faculty and staff with students has really allowed me to learn more and create meaningful relationships. Many of the committees and events hosted by Taubman provide the opportunity to create personal relationships. Professors and staff are always willing to go above and beyond to help students.

How has Taubman’s career and professional development support prepared you for a successful career in your chosen field?
The career center and staff help to prepare students with tools and resources during internship/job search. They are really helpful in sharing opportunities and helping students with workshops and one-on-one reviews.

What benefits have you experienced being part of the University of Michigan?
The faculty and staff are constantly preparing students to succeed. They help set the students up with any resources and opportunities they see fit!

What do you like most about being part of the Ann Arbor community?
I really enjoy the student-based community with people from all over the world. There are many great food options too!

What advice would you give prospective students as they consider Taubman College?
If you are looking for a diverse and accepting place full of resources and opportunities, Taubman college is the right place for you!

What are your plans after graduation?
I hope to work with an urban design practice focused on equitable community design and nonprofit work!

Additional advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective students?
Get involved! Being involved has allowed me to create meaningful relationships with faculty/staff and students all across the college.
