“The education was exceptional, but the people made the experience unforgettable.”
Describe the work you do. What are some of your recent and current projects that excite you? What inspires you about the future of your chosen field?
I bridge strategy and design to help organizations turn ambitious goals into impactful places. My work spans everything from shaping environments that reflect their history, purpose, and surroundings to developing long-term capital plans that maximize resources and drive value. In a world increasingly guided by data, I help clients navigate challenges such as resilience, safety, and technological change while never losing sight of what matters most: creating places that enrich lives and strengthen communities. Improving the human condition is the purpose behind everything I do.
Why did you choose Taubman College for your education?
After being accepted to six graduate schools, I chose Michigan because of its people. From the start, the faculty stood out for their accessibility, expertise, and commitment to helping students succeed. They described a community filled with opportunity, collaboration, and access to influential thinkers, and the experience met those expectations. Learning alongside classmates from a wide range of backgrounds broadened my perspective and strengthened my approach. And of course, spending time in Ann Arbor was a bonus; it is a fun and vibrant place that I was proud to call home.
How did Taubman College prepare you for your career? What experiences beyond the classroom (internships, research assistantships, teaching opportunities, or other external experiences) provided additional value?
Taubman College also provided me with an opportunity to engage with professionals outside of the classroom. This included weekly lunchtime meetings with practicing planners and the chance to attend state and national professional conferences. Being around leaders in the profession gave me the confidence to run against five other students from across the country and to be elected as National Chair of the APA Student Representatives Council. This is a leadership role that I could not have had without the support from the College, and it gave me confidence to continue in leadership roles.
How has being part of the alumni community impacted you, personally and professionally?
The best part of my experience at Taubman College? Earning a world-class education while building lifelong friendships.
What did you like best about attending Taubman College?
Taubman College gave me the opportunity to learn from some of the best while creating lifelong friendships along the way. The education was exceptional, but the people made the experience unforgettable.
What advice or important lesson would you share with someone considering Taubman College?
Graduate school is about discovering your voice and building relationships that will support your career long after graduation. Challenge yourself, be open to new ideas, and don’t be afraid to take creative risks.
