This studio drawing course focuses on the translation of three dimensional space into two dimensional representations in digital drawing, at the building and object scales. Methods of projection are explored to understand and expand their conventional use in architectural design. Orthographic, perspectival, and anamorphic projection may be explored. Though intended primarily for students considering a design-related career, it is open to students from any discipline wishing to improve their visual literacy.

Learning objectives:

  • Describing and conceiving the world through central and parallel projections in digital drawing.
  • Introduction to axonometric and isometric in digital drawing.
  • Translations between two dimensions and three dimensions.
  • Control of line weights and line types to convey spatial ideas.

Software requirements:

  • Rhinoceros 3D
  • Adobe Illustrator
