This course considers furniture as a moment within the scale of architecture and crucial in the education of an architect. While most architects are not furniture makers, their experience of fabrication directly or in collaboration with crafts people and manufacturers enabled them to have a better understanding of the furniture they designed. In this course students will fabricate three furniture pieces of increasing complexity. They will design by making rather than designing to make.
Students without prior design or art experience should consult with the instructor before enrolling.
