Course Brief:

The Advanced Digital Fabrication seminar provides an opportunity for students to explore cutting edge fabrication technologies in a seminar/supervised lab format. Projects will introduce core software and hardware tools used in the Fabrication Lab as well as new techniques that are constantly evolving through ongoing research trajectories.

Several architectural fabrication research trajectories have been developed within the Taubman College Fabrication Lab, and this course will continue that research as well as help students build an understanding of the workflows and techniques involved. In addition, the goal of working within a “lab” context is to encourage knowledge transfer between the various research trajectories, with the expectation that students will share technical expertise in a collaborative manner throughout the program.

Prerequisites for the course include completion of ARCH 537, and experience using Rhino 3D modeling software.
