Course Brief:

This course transcends disciplinary boundaries to explore the future of cities. Students are propelled beyond conventional revitalization approaches through the activation of critical consciousness and
explore reparations as a foundation for transformative urban planning. Through contemporary case studies currently under consideration by local practitioners, we will delve into how a reparative framework can be used to foster transformative planning approaches in areas such as zoning, alternative economics, and community sovereignty. Through inspired lectures, engaging oral histories, immersive site visits, compelling literature, and thought-provoking videos, students will gain a holistic understanding of the possibilities and responsibilities of urban planning in shaping the cities of the future.
