This course explores how longer lifespans are reshaping the way we design products, services, and cities. Students will examine the social, technological, and urban implications of a longevity society and develop design responses across three scales: product, service, and city. Through field research, rapid prototyping, service mapping, and systems analysis, students will create three design prototypes—a screen-based interaction, a service journey storyboard, and a systems map—culminating in a team-based final project and an individual conceptual paper. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply service and systems thinking methods, conduct field-based design research, and articulate informed design strategies for building multigenerational, future-oriented communities.
