Construction materials derived from agricultural byproducts are receiving renewed attention given their environmental benefits. Yet, the industrial farming practices from which many of these byproducts result, negatively impact the biosphere. This talk focuses on wheat straw to examine these impacts and explore how biogenic construction, if more deeply grounded in ecological principles, might benefit architects while fostering a more profound connection between food cultivation and the ecosystems that support us.
