The Electric Plant Co is a pioneering startup aiming to revolutionize the interaction between plants, people, and the environment by tapping into the intelligence and sophisticated sensing capabilities of plants. The company is developing low-cost bioware to capture electrochemical signals from millions of plants worldwide and an AI-driven “Large Plant Language Model” that decodes and draws actionable, hyper-local insights from each single plant. This groundbreaking approach not only makes biophilic spaces—both at the architectural and urban scales—easier to maintain, but also unlocks a new frontier in climate adaptation, engineered environments, environmental sensing, and human interaction with nature. By embedding plant intelligence into our designed world, we open up exciting possibilities for responsive, sustainable spaces that thrive in harmony with people and ecosystems. We invite you to join this lecture, learn about the plant intelligence technology, and ideate together how it can be applied to enable a positive climate future.
Justin Mast, CEO & Co-Founder
Justin Mast is a seasoned entrepreneur with deep roots in the horticulture industry and a track record of redefining how we connect with plants. Prior to co-founding The Electric Plant Co., he founded Bloomscape, a modern plant retailer that transformed how greenery is grown, shipped, and experienced by consumers. Drawing on both a rich, five-generation greenhouse heritage and training in architecture, Justin brings a unique perspective to blending natural elements with built environments. His ability to envision integrated solutions, combined with his experience in building high-growth plant brands and optimizing plant supply chains, ensures that our pioneering plant-based environmental sensing systems can flourish on a global scale.
