As part of international research travel funded by the Canada Council of the Arts through the 2009 Prix de Rome in Architecture, Taubman faculty Geoffrey Thün and Kathy Velikov will present recent design research and projections regarding the future of high performance building design. On August 23, 2010, they will present as part of the Master of Sustainable Architecture Lecture Series at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. On August 26, 2010, they will present in the lecture series for the Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik also about their awarded work.
The lectures will discuss several tracks of recent research into the potential of Mass-Customized Housing Manufacture, the design of Responsive Envelopes, Advanced Building Interface systems, as well as strategies for the aggregation of high density housing around new forms of bundled infrastructure within areas of increasing residential and urban density concentrations.
