Jazairy’s Article Featured in Volume #47: The System
Assistant Professor El Hadi Jazairy’s article, “Neck of the Moon” was featured in Volume #47: The System. The article was co-written with Rania Ghosn, partner at DESIGN EARTH.
“No matter how much it’s talked about, as a planet, we still don’t know what to do about all of the junk we’ve sent up into our atmosphere over the past fifty years. By reintroducing the idea of a space elevator as an umbilical cord between the surface of the Earth and geostationary orbit, Design Earth has proposed to consolidate that junk to form a new ground plane up in the heavens: Planet Laika,” writes Nick Axel, editor of Volume #47.
Volume magazine and its many incarnations are published by Archis, an experimental think tank devoted to the process of real-time spatial and cultural reflexivity and action.
