Rule and Kennedy Present at “Housing Across Borders: Mexican and U.S. Housing in Perspective”
Assistant professor of practice Jonathan Rule and lecturer Mick Kennedy will be presenting work from their Fall 2016 Systems Studio at the “Housing Across Borders: Mexican and U.S. Housing in Perspective.” The conference held on May 26th, 2017, brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars from the U.S. and Mexico to discuss the housing market along the border and how its people, policies, and ideas are intertwined. It will be hosted by UC San Diego – Center for U.S. Mexican Studies.
In the fall of 2016, Rule, Kennedy, and lecturer Kevin Adkins led the Nexus graduate architecture studio, which focused on the future of housing in southwest Detroit through scaled living, social thresholds and pre-fab construction. Their paper, “¡VIVAMOS EN EL NORTE!: Housing Design Alternatives in Mexican-American Neighborhoods” highlights work from the studio.
