Chopra, M.Arch ’26, is in the final year of the three-year Master of Architecture program. She was nominated for the Future100 by Jen Maigret, professor of architecture and director of Climate Futures, and was one of 25 graduate students selected.

“[Arushi] brings equal measures of curiosity and care to her work, exploring the intersections of human health, ecological systems, and culturally attuned approaches to materials and construction,” Maigret said.

Chopra has served as a graduate student instructor under Maigret for Arch 515: Sustainable Systems and interned with architectural firms in Chicago and Durham, North Carolina. She is also a licensed architect in India. Her research was included in an exhibit on the architecture of Victor Adegbite and Charles Polónyi at the Wende Museum in Culver City, California, co-curated by Łukasz Stanek, professor of architecture.

Chopra’s work focuses on wellness, enhancing human experiences, and sustainability in all forms — environmental, social, and economic — from thesis explorations of bamboo construction to designs for climate-resilient cities and a retreat for dementia patients and caregivers.

“Arushi embodies the forward-thinking, values-driven designer the Metropolis Future 100 program aims to uplift,” Maigret said.

Metropolis is an internationally recognized, New York-based design and architecture magazine with a strong focus on ethics, innovation, and sustainability. Launched in 2021, the annual Future100 program is sponsored by architecture and design firms seeking a talented, diverse pool of candidates. The winning students’ information is shared with recruiters from architecture and design firms across the country.
