Inspired by the Kerrytown Farmers Market a mere six-minute walk away, this theater explores the possibility of thinking through the filmgoing experience as a market. By weaving enclosed and outdoor spaces, this theater looks to provide flexible spaces—partitioned by dropping curtains—while also contributing much needed public space for lingering in the neighbourhood that is open all day. An outdoor public theater, a classic blackbox, a ‘restaurant theater’ for the performance of food-making, and an experimental theater space come together under one shed structure, complete with a ‘market’ space acting as an extension to the one up the street.
