Planning Detroit’s Conner Creek Greenway: Attracting Eastside Neighbors

Abstract

This plan presents a design strategy to reestablish Conner Creek Greenway as a natural, non-motorized greenway network connecting Detroit’s eastside. This vision pays homage to Conner Creek’s cultural and historic origins and includes recommendations for activity nodes. This plan also suggests strategies for the future development, programming and maintenance of the greenway. Planning Detroit’s Conner Creek Greenway represents a synthesis of efforts between University of Michigan students, the Detroit Eastside Community Collaborative and the Healthy Environments Partnership.
