Hong Kong Exchange Agreement
Taubman College of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning currently has an exchange program agreement with the Hong Kong University. This agreement allows current Taubman undergraduate students to attend Hong Kong University for one term, while remaining enrolled and paying tuition here at the University of Michigan. The credit hours taken at Hong Kong University will be credited toward your degree at Taubman College.
Hong Kong students interested in attending Taubman College will need to follow the process below.
Requirements for Undergraduate Students
Program Requirements:
- You must be nominated for the program by the exchange coordinator of your home institution
- You can be nominated to study at the University of Michigan for one semester
- Your application must be accepted by the University of Michigan
- If you are admitted as an exchange student at Taubman College, you will remain enrolled with your home institution and continue to pay your home institution tuition
- The academic program you undertake may be credited towards your degree as per the formal agreement between the two institutions
Application Requirements:
- Complete Office of Undergraduate Admission Non-Degree Application (Part I and II)
Completed applications should be returned to:

Portfolio Requirement:
Please submit your portfolio via email to taubmancollegeadmissions@umich.edu (the portfolio is only used to assist us in studio placement)
The first page of the portfolio must include the following information
- Your last name, first name, Hong Kong Exchange
- email address
Application Deadline:
February 1 annually for Fall term admission
Requirements for Graduate Students
Program Requirements:
- You must be nominated for the program by the exchange coordinator of your home institution.
- You can be nominated to study at the University of Michigan – Taubman College for one term.
- Your application must be accepted by Taubman College.
- If you are admitted as an exchange student at Taubman College, you will remain enrolled with your home institution and continue to pay your home institution tuition.
- The academic program you undertake may be credited towards your degree as per the formal agreement between the two institutions
Application Requirements:
- Complete International Exchange Student Non-Candidate for Degree Enrollment Form

- Provide the most current official copy of your college transcript.
- Proof of English Proficiency
- Affidavit of Financial Support for International Exchange Students
- Original bank statement(s) (including applicant’s name on all documentation)
- If bank statements are in a currency other than USD, convert to USD using the xe currency converter. Take a screenshot or save page as PDF.
- Copy of passport picture page including expiration date
- J-1 Exchange Visitor Information Form
- Ensure a signature is on Page 2
- Include a copy of a current CV or resume
