Hong Kong Exchange Agreement

Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning currently has an exchange program agreement with the University of Hong Kong (known has “HKU”). This agreement allows current HKU students to attend Taubman College at the University of Michigan for one semester (Fall or Winter only), while remaining enrolled at and paying University of Hong Kong tuition.

Hong Kong students interested in attending Taubman College will need to follow the process below.

Requirements for Undergraduate Students

Program Requirements

  • You must be nominated for the program by the exchange coordinator of your home institution
  • You can be nominated to study at the University of Michigan for one semester
  • Your application must be accepted by the University of Michigan
  • If you are admitted as an exchange student at Taubman College, you will remain enrolled with your home institution and continue to pay your home institution tuition
  • The academic program you undertake may be credited towards your degree as per the formal agreement between the two institutions

Application and supporting materials submitted to: taubmancollegeadmissions@umich.edu ONLY! Do not send anything directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Taubman College will submit on your behalf.

Requirements for Graduate Students

Program Requirements

  • You must be nominated for the program by the exchange coordinator of your home institution.
  • You can be nominated to study at the University of Michigan – Taubman College for one term.
  • Your application must be accepted by Taubman College.
  • If you are admitted as an exchange student at Taubman College, you will remain enrolled with your home institution and continue to pay your home institution tuition.
  • The academic program you undertake may be credited towards your degree as per the formal agreement between the two institutions

Application Requirements (Taubman)

Taubman International Exchange Application & supporting materials:

  • Current official transcript
  • Proof of English Proficiency
  • Taubman College Financial Certification Form 
  • Copy of passport picture page including expiration date
  • Copy of a current CV or resume
  • Portfolio (used only to assist with studio placement)
    • Your last name, first name, Hong Kong Exchange
    • Email address

Application Deadlines

  • October 15 annually for Winter term admission
  • March 1 annually for Fall term admission
