In a collaborative and peer-based environment, we will explore the influence of current, widely accepted definitions of sustainability, resilience, and adaptation on the discipline of architecture. We will consider a range of spatial and temporal scales including global warming, ecosystem degradation, resource scarcity, environmental justice (among others) and examine a range of actionable, architectural responses that promote just, vibrant communities and built environments. We will approach resilient design and climate positive architecture from an interdisciplinary perspective. The course will present a range of case study examples that exemplify innovative approaches to systems thinking responses to contemporary challenges in this arena

Note: This course is pre-approved as a MUD Directed Elective in the Ecology, Landscape, and Sustainability category.
