SCHAFLER@25 at Pratt Institute exhibits work by Professor Emeritus Gunnar Birkerts and Professor Douglas Kelbaugh

Taubman College Professor Emeritus of Architecture Gunnar Birkerts and Professor of Architecture and Urban Planning Douglas Kelbaugh will speak at the special celebration exhibit, SCHAFLER@25—at the Pratt Institute in New York—on the topic of “The Energy of Light,” which was an original exhibition at the Pratt Institute in 1986.

The new show is a retrospective of original work, along with some new energy efficient/green projects by selected participants. Kelbaugh’s presented work at the exhibit will include a building he designed in Washington State as well as a mosque he designed in Dubai.

SCHAFLER@25 celebrates a quarter century of exhibitions at the Rubelle and Norman Schafler Gallery. The event highlights six of the most memorable and influential exhibitions from the past 25 years. The work will be accompanied by recent work from the participants as well.

The opening reception will take place Oct. 6, 2010, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Rubelle and Norman Schafler Gallery at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. The exhibit is being guest-curated by Eleanor Moretta, the former director of exhibitions at the Institute.

The SCHAFLER@25 exhibit will run Oct. 7, 2010 through Jan. 21, 2011.
