Sirota Contributes “The Next Idea” to Uses of Public Spaces
Assistant Professor of Architecture Anya Sirota was interviewed on Michigan Radio’s program, “The Next Idea,” that aired on July 11. In the interview and accompanying text by Karl Williams entitled “Creative Use of Public Space Could Make More Detroiters Feel like They Belong,” Sirota discussed the need for well-designed public spaces that are both adapted to specific activities and open spaces that can be used in a variety of ways. She talked about the new urban farming and warned that infrastructure and investment are still challenges to the changing usage of public spaces.
“The Next Idea” is a radio project devoted to innovation across Michigan. Each week, Michigan’s most creative and visionary leaders share their best ideas for how to move the state forward.
