IN THE NEWS: Vitet Recognized as Student Leader for Women’s History Month

Taubman College’s Emma Vitet, B.S. Urban Technology ’26, was interviewed as part of a student feature by The Michigan Daily for Women’s History Month. President of the Urban Technology Student Organization and a founding member of URB Consulting Club, Vitet was featured alongside other student leaders to discuss her passions and career aspirations.

A core part of Vitet’s interview was the role of gender in the urban design process. Vitet said that cities have to be designed for diverse groups of people, and that women experience the city differently than men.

“I think it’s really interesting to look at specifically how women move in cities, (which) is very different from how men move in cities, and especially people that don’t fit into the binary,” Vitet said. “How do you design for those people who are not men and (heteronormative), and how do they move around and experience places that are often associated with danger and uncertainty in big cities?”
