STUDIO: INTERACTION DESIGN AND URBAN EXPERIENCES
Urban Technology studio (UT330) focuses on interaction design related to a core urban service such as mobility, collective decision-making, resource sharing, or resource utilization. Students work through the full design process from discovery to definition, development, and validation. After conducting qualitative research to identify user needs, students develop wireframes, mockups, and other prototypes to test with real-world users.
Side-By-Side is a data visualization tool that facilitates a user’s decision-making process for dining out in urban spaces. The redesign’s goal is to help users compartmentalize the vast information base that they view when selecting a restaurant. Side-By-Side works by connecting to Google’s infrastructure and technical capabilities and providing a seamless user experience within the interface. The mission is to help perceive and participate in the sociability of cities.
