TheRide is the primary source of public transportation for Ann Arbor residents, but is in part underutilized due to the difficult-to-understand navigation system and the poor interface design of the mobile app. This causes more riders to opt for cars instead, driving up the carbon emissions in Ann Arbor. The goal of the redesign is to make the navigation process more intuitive for riders and help them choose routes that are both time and energy-efficient. The improved app consolidates all parts of the process, including route research and selection, bus tracking, payment, and energy information to provide users with a seamless journey from point A to point B.
