A 3.5 mile stretch of lower Woodward Ave. in Detroit, Michigan is soon to be turned into a light rail transit corridor. A multi-disciplinary team of graduate student planners, architects, and a landscape architect has been working with Professor Emeritus Bob Beckley to explore the design and development opportunities presented by this much anticipated infrastructure improvement. On April 24th at the UM Detroit Center, the studio will present concepts developed over the course of the winter term to area stakeholders including representatives from the New Center Association, University Cultural Center Association, Downtown Detroit Partnership, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Detroit Renaissance Foundation, Kresge Foundation, the Hudson Weber Foundation, area professionals and other interested parties.
