Taubman College Director of the Detroit Community Design Center and lecturer in architecture and urban planning Craig L. Wilkins will speak on housing class at the Architecture for Change Summit slated for September 22-24, 2010 at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His talk will be from 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. September 23. His respondents are Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lawrence Vale and Thomas Jones from University of California, San Luis Obsipo. Wilkins’ Detroit Center provides architecture, planning and technical assistance to low-and moderate-income residents and communities.
The summit will feature the work of affordable housing advocates, discuss how design can help alleviate the affordable housing crisis, and inspire change in conventional development practices and policies that impede sustainable and appropriate housing.
