Urban planning graduate students travel to Pittsburgh for “Expanded Horizons”
Urban Planning graduate students visited Pittsburgh this fall as part of the UP590 Expanded Horizons trip. Pittsburgh’s economic and environmental transformation over the past 30 years and the regional economy’s resilience in the face of a global recession made the city a desirable candidate for the urban planning program’s out-of-classroom experience. Part of their program included a presentation organized by the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and its marketing affiliate, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance. Showcasing Pittsburgh as a “Pioneer and Model for Urban Redevelopment and Renewal,” the session featured presentations and Q&A with experts including Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Rob Stephany.
