Geoffrey Thün to lecture on Responsive Envelope Systems at the 2013 European Energy Forum

Associate Professor Geoffrey Thün will present “Responsive Envelopes: bridging environmental response and human interaction” co-authored with Assistant Professor Kathy Velikov as part of a session entitled “Integrating Multifunctional Building Envelopes” at the 2013 European Energy Forum Advanced Building Skins Conference in Bressanone, Italy Nov 6-7.

Session speakers include Jason Vollen, Associate Director of CASE: Center for Architecture Science and Ecology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, New York, USA, Martina Decker, of NJIT and DeckerYeadon, NYC, and Benedikt Bader of the Institute for Building Technology, RWTH, Aachen, Germany.

Thün’s presentation will discuss projects developed through a U-M funded initiative ‘Integrated Responsive Building Envelopes’ that aims to develop wireless sensing and actuation platforms linking climatic conditions, kinetic envelope components, distributed HVAC and occupant interfaces capable of sponsoring sustainable behaviors through co-evolutionary relationships to building controls.
