“Rooted” earns Honorable Mention in Hines Student Urban Design competition
Congratulations to team “Rooted” for earning an Honorable Mention in the Urban Land Institute’s Hines Student Urban Design Competition. “Rooted” is one of eight team proposals selected for honorable mention which challenged multidisciplinary student teams with the task of devising a comprehensive design and development program for parts of the Tulane/Gravier and Iberville neighborhoods in downtown New Orleans. I. The jury added the Taubman College team was recognized for its, “clear and cogent schematic process along with a cohesive and thoughtful environment vision.”
Assistant Professor of Practice in Architecture, Lars Graebner and Professor of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning, Doug Kelbaugh advised the team of: Justin Ping (M.Arch.’15), Greg DiRienzo (M.Arch.’15), Mark Knutson (M.Arch.’15), Erin Bozorth (M.U.P.’15) and Justin Kubassek (M.B.D.’15) to the honor.
In April, a $50,000 prize will be awarded to the team with the winning proposal, with $5,000 of the total going to the school. Each of the remaining three finalist teams will receive $10,000 and Taubman College Urban Planning alumni Andy Fang (M.U.P.’09) is a member of the Harvard University finalist team..
