Associate Professor of Urban Planning Scott Campbell published his article “The Planner’s Triangle Revisited: Sustainability and the Evolution of a Planning Ideal That Can’t Stand Still” in the Journal of the American Planning Association (JAPA). The article reassesses the idea of the “planner’s triangle” he proposed in the journal 20 years earlier and discusses its relationship to sustainability. Campbell reflects on the last two decades of sustainable planning, argues why it has stayed a central part of planning, and what is needed for it to stay relevant in the future.
