Ahlquist Wins 2016 SXSW Eco Award
Assistant Professor of Architecture Sean Ahlquist won the 2016 SXSW Eco Award in the Place By Design competition for his project Social Sensory Architectures. Social Sensory Architectures is Ahlquist’s ongoing project to develop multi-sensory environments for children with autism. The SXSW Place By Design competition recognizes projects that “push everyday places to become an integral part of a community and a force for social, economic and environmental change.” Finalists were chosen in the categories of Art + Interaction, Equity + Inclusion, Resilience + Health, Revitalization, Speculative + Prototyping, and Urban Strategy + Civic Engagement. Social Sensory Architectures is the winner in the Speculative + Prototyping category, chosen out of six finalists.
