Upasana Roy Named a Catalyst Leadership Circle Fellow

Upasana Roy, M.U.R.P. ’24, has been named a 2023 Catalyst Leadership Circle Fellow. The fellowship program, led by the Graham Sustainability Institute in collaboration with Michigan Green Communities and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), pairs graduate students from across Michigan with local governments and industry experts to create sharable, sustainability-focused deliverables for communities across the state.

Roy has a background in architecture in Kolkata, India. Together with Inclination Engineering, a mechanical engineering consulting firm in southeast Michigan, Roy will research how air-source heat pumps (ASHP) can support efforts to decarbonize and electrify buildings in East Lansing.

“I am thrilled and honored to be named a Catalyst Leadership Circle Fellow for the 2023 cohort,” said Roy. “It is an incredible opportunity to work with local governments and industry experts to create sustainability-focused deliverables for communities across Michigan. I am particularly excited about partnering with Inclination Engineering to research how air-source heat pumps (ASHP) can support efforts to decarbonize and electrify buildings in East Lansing. I look forward to furthering myself as an urban practitioner by contributing to the program’s mission of promoting sustainable and equitable practices in Michigan.”
