In an era marked by climate change and the aftermath of industrial extraction, this project envisions repurposing decommissioned offshore oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico into dynamic sanctuaries and agricultural hubs for communities displaced by rising sea levels. Dubbed “the synthetisystem,” these rigs act as nodes in an intelligent network, adapting to environmental stimuli and data to serve the needs of their inhabitants. Aiming to be a self-sustaining collective, fostering mechanisms for resource allocation, energy extraction, agriculture, environmental defense, and habitable space, it symbolizes a new paradigm of coexistence with nature, emphasizing collaboration over dominance.
