Demeter’s Amnion

RED sky at night, sailors delight. Red sky in the morning, sailors warning.

The embassy sails, navigating the wind systems, constellations, alternating hemispheres, and thermodynamic currents in pursuit of the Red Tide. This tide creates barriers between the coastline and the ocean, the sky and the depths of the sea – exploring the separation of lightness and darkness, containment and vastness, destruction and preservation, and cycles of growth.

These relationships are narrated through the story of Demeter’s daughter, Persephone – who is stolen by Hades. This story of motherhood results in the seasons personified through the cyclical nature of plants, animals, and weather.

Demeter’s Amnion houses the female spirits of the sea and air – where the nereids 1/2human|fish, and the sirens 1/2human|bird dwell. These creatures serve as ambassadors to Demeter in Hades’ territory, who are searching for Persephone throughout the Red Tide.

Celestial charts drive the embassy. Zodiacs etch their-selves into a navigating guardian garden where they grow into plants that morph into their anthropized figures throughout the lunar calendar.
