the “94563” house

The “94563” House exists within an urban context for a family of 4. Inspired by the Charles Moore ‘Orinda House’, the home combines program with form that mimics the invisible systems of architecture created by Moore while capitalizing on his use of aediculas to make the home sculptural and ephemeral. The home is meant to hold the user amongst busy daily lives and create a relationship with architecture that can only be experienced with time as light and shadows define new spaces and relationships with the house. From a grassy plot in Orinda, CA, to a city environment, the house still reflects the many systems of control over light, air, and movement that was once present in the Orinda House.
