University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning Dean Monica Ponce de Leon hosted a graduation reception at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) on May 2, 2009, to celebrate with the architecture, urban design and urban planning graduating class. The UMMA reopened on March 28 with a new wing following a historic expansion and restoration; graduates and their families were able to tour the new facilities. Notably included in the museum was the exhibition Museums in the 21st Century: Concepts, Projects, Buildings. Organized and circulated by Art Centre Basel, the exhibition highlights the preeminent trends in international museum architecture across four continents. Twenty-seven of the world’s leading museum building projects were showcased, including the UMMA. View the image gallery here.
