Cohen's Taiyuan Museum of Art featured in Architect Magazine

Preston Scott Cohen, the architect leading a sweeping renovation of the building home to Taubman College, is featured in this month’s Architect Magazine – the flagship publication of AIA. The feature included an interview with the Cambridge, Mass.-based architect on the competition, design, and development of his world-renown Taiyuan Museum of Art.

Located in Taiyuan, a city of 4 million located 325 miles southwest of Beijing, the Taiyuan Museum of Art works as a cluster of buildings unified by continuous and discontinuous promenades both inside and outside and proves parametric form can still follow function.

Cohen, in conjunction with Integrated Design Solutions, will work with faculty, student, and staff representatives on the renovation to provide state-of-the-art facilities for Taubman College. The renovation was made possible by the recent $12.5 million gift to the University of Michigan by the college’s namesake A. Alfred Taubman.

Cohen, who is Principal of Preston Scott Cohen Inc., also serves as Chair of the Department of Architecture and the Gerald M. McCue Professor of Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Read the interview in the April 2014 issue of Architect Magazine or visit the Preston Scott Cohen website for more detail on the firm.
