Taubman College Associate Professor Matias del Campo and Assistant Professor Sandra Manninger, who are co-founders of the Vienna-based studio SPAN, are participating in a panel at EU@SXSW, part of the 2019 South by Southwest Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas. The panel, “Culture and Artificial Intelligence – Creative Industries & the End of Anthropocentrism,” also will include Kory Bieg, founder and principal at OTA+ and a professor of architecture at the University of Texas at Austin; and Ryan Vincent Manning, designer/owner of quirkd33.
Panelists will discuss issues regarding the roles and functions of artificial intelligence (AI) in Europe and the world, such as the potential for AI sensibilities and the questions raised by imagining a world where cultural production is shared by humans and AI. The event will take place Monday, March 9, from 4–5 p.m. at Palm Door on 6th in Austin.
