Our proposal, "Open Your Backyard," aims to tackle Ann Arbor's housing shortage problem in a sustainable, affordable, and community-focused manner. By constructing accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on single-family residential lots, we can increase the city's density and create small, hidden communities. Homeowners have the freedom to choose their ADU's tenants while the area is co-managed and shared functionally. Ultimately, our solution strives to enhance the livability of Ann Arbor, fostering inclusivity, sustainability, and harmony within the urban environment.
