The Foundation for Landscape Studies has awarded a David R. Coffin Grant to the University of Minnesota Press to support publication of Architecture Professor Caroline Constant’s forthcoming book, Landscapes of Modern Architecture (Spring 2012). The David R. Coffin Publication Grant is awarded each year to an author or publisher of a book-in-progress on a landscape subject. A jury composed of members of the board of directors of the Foundation for Landscape Studies selected award recipients. Only books based on original research and those that break new ground in method or interpretation were considered.
Constant’s book also gained the recognition and support of the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, which awarded Landscapes of Modern Architecture with a publication subvention grant. As architecture and related spatial practices engage a wide range of cultural, social, political, technological, environmental and aesthetic issues, the Graham Foundation is interested in projects that investigate the contemporary condition, expand historical perspectives or explore the future of architecture and the designed environment.
The book’s publication is also supported by funding from UM’s OVPR and the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
