Associate Professor Andrew Herscher Among Speakers for Architecture, Image, Action – Friday, October 12th

The Working Committee on Architecture and Politics Presents, “Architecture, Image, Action” this Friday, October 12, 2012 from 1:00-3:00pm in the West Review Space on the 3rd floor of the Art and Architecture Building

As buildings became part of the cultural identity of mass society, whether in the industrialized west or the colonized world, they created images along with usable public and private space. This presentation explores the role of images in architecture and visual culture. Testing the proposition that seemingly separate realms of image and action have been mutually constitutive, we will inquire into the dynamic between images and inhabitable objects.

Joining Associate Professor Andrew Herscher is Michael Stöneberg, independent curator, Munich;
Mary Woods, Cornell University; and Claire Zimmerman, Assistant Professor of Architecture, Tabuman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Brendan Fay; Keith Mitnick, Associate Professor of Architecture; Anca Trandafirescu, Assistant Professor of Architecture; and Etienne Turpin, Lecturer in Architecture are respondents for the event.
