Lars Graebner practices and teaches architecture, urban design and construction in the United States and Europe. His practice includes residential and commercial buildings, exhibitions and public installations. Many competitions and research projects explore aspects of urban morphology, development of form and its relationship to building construction.

Lars Graebner grew up in the United States and Germany, where he was born in 1968. He studied architecture in Hanover, Copenhagen, and Berlin. He received his professional degree at the Universität Hannover and was awarded the 1996 Preis der Universität Hannover for Outstanding Work at the Department of Architecture. Lars Graebner gained his experience in building design and construction in several architectural offices, where he was project architect for many residential, public and urban projects as well as in his own practice of GRÆBNER D/S since 1989. Beginning with the successful competition for the Extension to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (1995), Lars Graebner functioned as competition- and project architect for some 25 projects for the renown Architectural Studio Daniel Libeskind, an international firm practicing in Berlin. The projects range from museums, theaters, exhibitions, and scenographies to large urban design projects.

With his own practice, Lars Graebner specializes in residential and public projects with the combination of urban design needs. The focus lies on the interdisciplinary approach to the projects, where he involves specialists from the various fields. Currently Lars Graebner is commissioned a residential and commercial development in downtown Detroit, which will have a major impact on the evolving neighborhoods in the inner city . He is advisor to residential developers in Germany and the United States in questions of low energy building construction and sustainable urban design.

Lars Graebner extensively taught Architectural Design and Construction in Switzerland, Germany, and currently teaches at the University of Michigan.
