Craig Borum

Mr. Borum is a tenured Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Michigan where he held the 1996 Sanders Fellowship in Architecture. He received his BS Arch and M Arch from the University of Virginia. Mr. Borum coordinates the design studios as well as an introductory design theory lecture course for the first year Graduate Program. He was the 1996 Sanders Teaching Fellow at the University of Michigan. He has also taught at the Southern California Institute of Architecture and the University of Virginia. He has served on design juries and lectured at a number of institutions including the Southern California Institute of Architecture, the University of Virginia, University of Cincinnati, University of Illinois, University of Colorado, University of Detroit Mercy, and the Berlage Institute in the Netherlands.

Mr. Borum practiced architecture independently in Charlottesville, VA and Washington, DC before establishing Ply Architecture. in Ann Arbor, MI in 1999. Mr. Borum was a recipient of the Architectural League of New York Young Architects Award in 2006. As the founding partner of Ply Architecture., Mr. Borum has directed the design of a number of projects including the award winning design for the Robbins Elementary School Competition, the winning entry to the Cleveland Case Study House Competition, the Horton Kuwada Residence, and the research and development of a line of luminous wood and paper light fixtures that have been developed using digital fabrication technology. His work has been published in Architecture Magazine, Architectural Record, Metropolis, l'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui, Ottagono, A+T and Azure . Mr. Borum is a licensed architect in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
