Eric Hill teaches graduate courses in professional practice, entrepreneurship, and ethics, and an undergraduate course in architectural design. He is additionally a member of the doctoral faculty in architecture. Hill received his Bachelor of Arts and PhD degrees in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and his professional Masters in Architecture degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. As a Marshall Fellow, he conducted advanced research in urban design and behavioral design at the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen.

Professor Hill is a registered architect, certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, a LEED Accredited Professional, US Green Building Council. With more than 35 years in practice, he has held principal level positions in management and design in architecture, preservation architecture, urban design and planning. His project experience encompasses a broad range of building typologies and geographies throughout the United States.

Professor Hill is a member of American Institute of Architects and was elected to AIA's College of Fellows, and he is a recipient of the Gold Medal Award from the AIA Detroit Chapter. He is a past board member of AIA Detroit, AIA Michigan, and the Michigan Architectural Foundation. He has served as Intern Development Program Coordinator for the Detroit region and the State of Michigan, and he is presently the IDP Educator Coordinator for the University of Michigan.
